7 RV Campgrounds To Visit In Ohio

Hocking Hills State Park is home to a 60-acre RV campground called Top O’ The Caves.

There’s almost no place more beautiful or more peaceful to take your RV than Ohio. The Buckeye State has something for everyone, no matter if you’re looking for a slow and cozy weekend or seeking the thrill that comes with exploring rugged trails.

Ohio is one of the best places for RVing. Here are seven best RV parks that you’ll find in this wonderful state.

Berlin RV Park and Campground

Berlin RV Park is for those who enjoy living off the land – it is in the heart of Amish country, after all. There’s a spot where guests can pick their own herbs and spices, and dinner tastes so good when the seasoning is that fresh!

This park has a wide variety of walking trails to choose from, complete with a number of benches to stop in and take in the view.

If you want to take a deep dive into Amish culture, stop by one of the communities that surround Berlin RV park and experience the restaurants, bakeries, and shops. There are even opportunities to take behind-the-scenes tours of the Amish lifestyle.

American Wilderness Campground

American Wilderness Campground is the perfect mix of nature and luxury. It has super clean showers, restrooms, and laundry facilities. It also has a dump station with access to city water, which is a nice breath of fresh air for people who’ve been traveling for a while.

As for the nature aspect of this park, expect rustic, picturesque views that you just can’t find anywhere else. What’s more, it’s located just 30 miles outside of Cleveland, so even though you might feel totally removed, society isn’t too far away.

Wood’s Tall Timber Resort

You’ve got space on space when you visit Wood’s Tall Timber Resort, as it’s located on a total of 157 acres. Each site has electric and sewer hookups, and you’ll find a shower house and a laundromat available, too.

There’s a large lake – it covers 7 acres! – on the campground that guests can use for swimming, canoeing, paddling, or fishing. And that’s not all you can find; if your family is always moving onto the next activity, look for the zip line, putt-putt golf course, and foot golf course. If one thing’s for sure, you definitely won’t be bored at Wood’s Tall.

Hocking Hills

Hocking Hills State Park is the place to go if you want a little peace and quiet. You can’t leave Ohio without checking it out, because it’s one of the most perfect places for a getaway – no matter how long that getaway may be.

There’s a 60-acre resort called Top O’ the Caves in the heart of Hocking Hills where you can park your RV and enjoy both electric and sewer hookups, along with top-tier log cabins to stay in.

As for activities, check out the six-mile trail called Old Man’s Cave that connects three of the park’s most frequently visited areas – Old Man’s Cave, Cedar Falls, and Ash Cave.

Buckeye Lake Columbus East KOA

This campground is the definition of “just off the beaten path.” It’s an easy 1.5 miles off of Highway 70, which is just far enough to avoid hearing the traffic whizzing by. The RV sites are quite spacious and level, and also nice and shady. They come with water and electric hookups whether you’re pulling through or backing in.

As for the fun stuff, Buckeye Lake Columbus East KOA has plenty of it. Spend some time at the dog park, swimming pool, shuffleboard setup, mini-golf course, playground, giant checkerboard, game room, jumping pillow, or play a game of horseshoes – there’s no such thing as a dull moment here, so it’s great for families with young kids

Geneva-on-the-Lake

If you’re a water fanatic, you’ll love the Geneva-on-the-Lake strip. It’s right on the shores of Lake Erie, so you can enjoy beautiful views, fishing year-round, and swim when the weather is right. This place is known for more than its lake, though — it’s also pretty famous for its awesome entertainment.

When you stay at a campground on Geneva-on-the-Lake (a few include Kenisee Grand River campground, Willow Lake campground, and Geneva State Park), expect live music, arcades, amusement rides, restaurants, and nightclubs, along with golf courses and wineries nearby. This strip has something for everyone, no matter your interests.

Salt Fork State Park

Take some time to explore the largest state park in Ohio! Salt Fork State Park encompasses a whopping 17,220 acres that are full of hiking trails, a nature center, a beach, a golf course, and mini-golf too!

All sizes of RVs are welcome here, as there are many differently-sized hookups to accommodate them, some with electric hookups and some without.

Amenities to enjoy include shower houses, clean restrooms, and a dump station.
